What is the Merchant Navy?
The Merchant Navy constitutes the commercial fleet of non-combatant ships dealing with passenger transport and international cargo. It offers an adventurous career at sea with lucrative salaries, long vacations, and opportunities to travel the world.
Basic Eligibility
Age Limit
17.5 - 25 years (up to 5-year relaxation based on category/course).
Education
Minimum 10th pass with at least 40% - 50% in English.
Medical Fitness
Stringent physical & eyesight norms per DGS standards.
Application & Placement Process
Step 1: Register
Register for IMU CET entrance test or college specific entrance test.
Step 2: Take Test
Take online or offline entrance test.
Step 3: Counseling
Consult about admission fees, packages, and know all about the college and placements.
Step 4: Enroll & Train
Complete 3 to 6-month hands-on training.
MSY Skill Development
Academy
In addition to traditional Merchant Navy roles, we run our own dedicated Skill Development Academy. Our objective is to rigorously train candidates in high-demand, specialized technical trades required at sea and on shore.
Eligibility Requirements
- Age: 18 to 35 Years
- Medically Fit
- Minimum 10th Pass
- Holding valid related Certificate or ITI
Electrician
Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diverse electrical systems, generators, and complex navigation tech on board ships and in shipyards.
Fitter
Skilled in assembling, installing, and rigorously maintaining mechanical systems, complex piping architectures, and heavy marine machinery.
Welder
Essential for structural integrity. You will be trained to perform high-precision welding tasks for shipbuilding, hull repairs, and offshore platforms.
